The Importance of Social Services

In life, we’re not all dealt with the same cards. Some come from a household that has no trouble getting whatever they want. On the other hand, the rest find it a little too challenging to address their basic needs. It is safe to say that our social status has a huge impact on our quality of life. This is why one of the goals of the Biafra referendum is to improve the quality of life of the oppressed and less privileged.

As a non-profit organization in Newark, New Jersey, we consistently seek ways to help those who have been greatly affected by the oppression in Nigeria. We firmly believe that people all over the world have the equal opportunity of helping them out. There are various ways to do so. Aside from doing charity work, social services are also an excellent idea.

Social services refer to services that are provided for the benefit of the community. These come in the form of education, health care, or housing. Its main goal is to promote the welfare of others, especially the less fortunate. Providing social services isn’t only a means of helping others, but it also comes with a huge responsibility. Here are some, to name a few:

• Facilitating access to disaster benefits
• Reuniting displaced family members
• Addressing stress and behavioral health issues
• Coordinating with entitlement programs
• Creating a positive impact
